Stephen Michael Downey

Stephen Michael Downey, age 42 of Miamisburg, Ohio, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021. He was born February 12, 1979, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Stephen and Suzanne Downey.

Steve was more than a loving father, son, brother and friend. He was a down-to-earth, big-hearted, one-of-a-kind person whose hugs could swallow you whole. He was a self-taught master guitarist with a love of 90s grunge, adrenaline, motorcycles and fast cars. He was beloved for his strength, determination, contagious laughter, silly jokes and his ability to make the best out of the worst situations. He was caring, kind, devoted and humble. Steve left a lasting impression, and his loving hugs and infectious personality will be forever missed.

He is preceded in death by his father, Stephen Roy Downey of Springfield, Ohio; paternal grandparents, Charles and Wilma Downey of Springfield; maternal grandparents, John and Alice Larimore of Springfield.

Steve is survived by his loving children, John Dean Downey and Abigail Downey; beloved girlfriend, Ellen Baron; mother, Suzanne; step-father, Sonny Thompson; siblings, Aaron (Donna) Thompson, Amy (Jodi) Thompson, Christy Thompson, Brittney (Bucky) Scott and Kate (Brandon) Justice; many nieces, aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins; brother from another mother, Bobby and Erica Picklesimon and many, many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Triad Middle School Community Room, 7941 Brush Lake Rd., North Lewisburg, Ohio 43060. A balloon launch will conclude the event.
