Stephen Duane Christensen, 65, passed away January 29, 2014 at Kettering Medical Center surrounded by loved ones and listening to Frank Sinatra. Born December 11, 1948 to Wilma and Kenneth Christensen, he grew up in Dayton, OH. He Graduated from Stivers High School in 1967. Stephen loved the Lord and enjoyed singing His praise. He was an avid reader and loved coloring with his grandchildren. Stephen was incredibly smart and spent most of time learning and researching anything that interested him; from Custer to the Titanic, his knowledge was remarkable. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, cherished grandparents George and Viola Kleinfelder, and his beloved Aunt Irene. He is survived by daughters Sarah Jankowski (Chris) and granddaughters Helaina (Booka-butt) and Ava (Tickle-bug), Mary Hollst (Todd), stepsons Gabe Erwin (Kami)and grandchildren Jayson and Adeline; Jay Thomas (Amber); Mike Erwin (Michele) and grandchildren Micah, Max, Miles, Mia and Macy; and Timothy Erwin (Tricia)grandchildren Savilla, Kristina, Samantha and Joshua. He is also survived by siblings Mark Christensen, nephew Eric Christensen and Niece Corine Skipper, Diane Christensen, Nancy Rogers(Charles) and nephews Zachary and Kyle; Kathy Hurley, niece Tracie Thompson ,and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation with friends and family is Tuesday February 4th 5PM–7PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH with a memorial service immediately following.
