Stephen G. Brest

Stephen G. Brest, age 54, of Peyton, CO, formerly of Dayton, OH, passed away November 5, 2023. He was born December 14, 1968 in Dayton, OH. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Charles Brest; step-mother, Laura Brest; and father-in-law, William Johnson.

Steve is survived by his mother, Barbara Schuler; daughter, Kayla Brest; significant other, Diane Stieger and Oma; former spouse, Debbie Brest; mother-in-law, Joyce Johnson; brothers: Jim Brest (Debbie) and Bob Brest (Carol); sisters: Cheri Hall (Dan) and Jeanine Wright (Jeff); many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his best friend, Derrick Bishop.

Steve loved music, especially playing the guitar, fishing and cooking. He had a great sense of humor, was an avid sports fan - always cheering for the Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Red Wings and was passionate about his digital art. Steve was a beloved father, son, brother and uncle. More than anything, Steve loved speaking to his daughter every single day - he loved the sound of her voice. Steve has left way too soon and will be greatly missed. Rock on 'lil Bro!

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where a memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or to a charity of your choice.
