Stanley H. Reed, Jr. passed away September 7 attended by the loving staff at Franklin Ridge Nursing Home, Franklin OH. Stan, known as "Rusty" to his family and many old friends, was born Feb. 2, 1941 in Middletown OH.
He is survived by daughter Allison Bushbaum and grandson Reed, of Centerville OH, and by brothers Jim of Oxford OH and John of Ft. Pierce FL. Papa, a great and loving father and grandfather, was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Georgia (ne Storey), and parents Stanley, Sr. and Dorothy Reed of Middletown.
Stan was a musician and played organ, piano, clarinet, and sousaphone in Middletown High's marching band. Stan was an entrepreneur, starting out with Schreeve's Ice Bar when he was 14, serving homemade flavored crushed ice cups from a garage basement near Sunset Park in Middletown. He hosted his own radio show at WPFB called "Teen Topics", inviting call-in requests from local kids. After college Stan teemed up with a friend to open a Putt Putt miniature golf course franchise in Middletown. He then went on as an advertising executive, program manager, and voice-over talent for local and out of state radio stations, and eventually retired after selling retail ad packages from his own business.
A memorial service will be finalized at a later date. Stan will be interred with Georgia at David's cemetery in Kettering OH.
