Shirley Ann Sawyer

Shirley Ann Sawyer, age 88 of Fairborn, formerly of Beavercreek, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024. She was born September 14, 1936 in New Bremen, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frederick and Deloris Solms.

Shirley retired from Sears as an office manager, where she made lifelong friends. In her younger years, she and Ken enjoyed square dancing; she even made their own outfits. She also enjoyed sewing, camping, cooking, puzzles and playing her family's favorite game, Yahtzee! In more recent years, she spent her time playing bingo, happy hour, ice cream and making new friends. Shirley will be remembered as a loving, kind and compassionate mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lynn Sawyer; son-in-law, Doug Chesney and granddaughter, Nikki Cooper.

Shirley is survived by her children, Steve Alan (Anna) Sawyer, Teresa Chesney and Jennifer Lynne (Bob) Little; grandchildren, Stephanie (Rob) Royse, Samantha (Charlie Sargent) Janson and Jessie (Andrew) Carf; great grandchildren, Marissa (Gabe) Skean, Kiersten Pugh, Lindsay (Gage Wisecup) Pugh, Caitlyn (Nick Williams) Royse, Cody Royse, Colton Janson, Aria Janson, Hudson Sargent, Oliver Sargent, Ellinor Sargent, Emma Carf, Rylee Carf and James Carf; great great grandchildren, Delilah Wisecup, Douglas Wisecup and David Wisecup; sister, Janet Tobin and nieces, Deb Cole and Ruthie McCauley.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff at Our Home where Shirley resided. They would also like to thank the staff that provided Shirley's care at Soin Medical Center during this difficult time. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Shirley's honor. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 12:00 pm to1:00 pm with a service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432).
