Shirley F. Stetson

Stetson, Shirley F., age 73, of Centerville, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. Shirley grew up in Covington, Kentucky and graduated from Holmes High School. She graduated from Transylvania University in 1957 and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She taught school in Louisville, Covington, and Dayton for many years, and retired as a Broker at Keys Realtors. Shirley loved to play tennis and golf.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 24 years: Kenneth Stetson; son: Gordon Carpenter; daughters and sons-in-law: Perrin (David) Verzi, Carol (Michael) Soehner; grandchildren: Ken, Jenny, Katie; great grandchildren: Emelyn, Kenton, Alyvia; son-in-law: Michael Nielsen; special friends: Skippi Cross & Norma Doherty; and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Oscar & Gladys Hughes and daughter: Kathie Nielsen.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 West Dixon Ave., Oakwood with Reverend Judith Doran officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in memory of Shirley. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel).
