Shirley E. Stringer
Age 72, of Troy, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Shirley was born December 24, 1937 in Jamestown, Ohio to the late Cary Rother & Laura Ellen (Sprinkle) Troute.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Don Blake Stringer, in 2004.
Shirley is survived by two children, Dawn Ellen & her husband, Stephen Longfellow and Shawn & his wife, Stefanie Stringer; and five grandsons, Allen Taylor Stringer, Blake Eric Longfellow, Zane Jacob Stringer, Ryan Benjamin Stringer & Mitchell Lucas Stringer.
Shirley was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and was involved with many committees & ministries within the church. She retired as a licensed Cosmetologist, but the focus of her life was her family.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Angelo Caserta at 10:00 a.m., Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 310 S. Downing St., Piqua. The family will also be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to Mass. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bowersville, Ohio.
Shirley requested that no flowers be sent, rather contributions should be made in memory of her to Hospice of Miami County; Pattonville High School Band, Maryland Heights, Missouri or The Troy High School Vocal Department.
