Shirley Jane Cox

Shirley Jane Cox, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on June 16, 2024 in Beavercreek, OH. She was born on December 6, 1944 in Greensboro, NC.

Shirley was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her. Her smile and kind heart touched the souls of many. She will be remembered for the love she brought to family gatherings, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas when she would gather with all her grandchildren.

A lover of travel, Shirley found solace in visiting vibrant destinations like Las Vegas and peaceful retreats by the beach. She also enjoyed the camaraderie of friends while engaging in her favorite pastime of bowling.

Shirley touched the lives of so many children she helped raise in her home daycare.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband John S. Cox, and dear friends Bob and Fannie Bennington.

In this time of mourning, Shirley is survived by her children Randy (Marily Struthers) Parsons, Lisa (Mark) Lewis, and Denise (Jason) Shiflett. She leaves behind a legacy through her grandchildren Josh (Tawney), Amber (Erin), Jake (Logan) , Taylor, Heather, Mark Jr., Stephen, Chloe, and Morgan. Shirley's spirit continues to live on through her great-grandchildren Saylor, Waylon, Layla, Able, Elzie, Blake, Brice, Hannah, and Johnny.

Services to honor and celebrate Shirley's life will take place on June 27th. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton Chapel followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Dayton National Cemetery.

Shirley will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace knowing that she was cherished and loved by many.
