Shirley Cook

Shirley Joan Jacobs Cook, beloved daughter,sister, mother, grandmother and best friend too many went to be with the Lord on April 22,2022. She was surrounded by her family when she passed. She was preceded in her death by her father Harold Jacobs, mother Naomi Kennedy Jacobs, brothers Gary and Jack Jacobs, sisters Susie Jacobs and Sally Jacobs Sedlacek.

She is survived by her husband Curtis Cook, daughters Kristina Cook and Loretta Cook Bowen (Lonnie), granddaughters Lauren Bowen Warrick (Justin) and Lindsey Bowen Scott (Eric), sisters Peggy Jacobs Carver, Norma Jacobs Shaull (Roger),brothers Dick Jacobs (Patti), Kenny Jacobs, Donnie Jacobs (Lorraine) and Frank Jacobs (Norma).

She was born June 28, 1933 in Mansfield Ohio. She graduated from Ontario High School in 1952 and came to Dayton Ohio to pursue her career in nursing at Miami Valley Hospital. After graduation in 1955 she worked for Dr. Howard Heywood, MD until 1979. She then continued at St. Elizabeth hospital (NW3-orthopedics) until her retirement in 1995. She then went to work for Dr. Thomas Rau, MD. She met her husband Curtis in Dayton, Ohio and were married in 1958. She attended First Grace Brethren Church faithfully where she came to know Jesus as her Savior and was baptized in that church. She enjoyed bowling, baking and spending time with her friends.

Memorial service planned for May 7, 2022 at First Grace Brethren Church, 2624 Stonequarry Rd, Vandalia, Ohio 45414 at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to First Grace or Child Evangelism would be appreciated.
