Shirley A. Calton, age 84, of Centerville, passed away November 12, 2021. She was born November 4, 1937 in Richeyville, PA to the late George Sr. and Elizabeth (Lutz) Durdines.
She was a Kentucky Colonel and she had a passion for assisting those in need. She spent much time volunteering with the Salvation Army and enjoyed being "Sunshine" the Clown bringing joy to nursing home residents in Kentucky. Her passion for cooking will be remembered by all who knew her. Shirley dearly loved her family especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Calton, her siblings George Durdines Jr, John Durdines, Betty Sloan, Robert Durdines, Patricia Egnosak, and Norma Dillon.
Shirley is survived by her children, Jeff (Lynne) Calton, Tina (Dana) Willett, Renee (Jack) Russell; grandchildren, Shawn (Bridget) Calton, Jason Calton, Matt (Natalia) Calton, Adam Willett, Robert (Anne-Marie) Calton, and Scott Russell. She is also survived by her siblings, Ron Durdines, Anna Durdines, Mary Ridge, and James Durdines, along with many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Shirley will always be remembered for her love of life, laughter, cooking and her selfless service to others.
Visitation will take place on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 8:30 am until 9:30 am at the Newcomer Centerville Chapel, 820 Miamisburg Centerville Rd, Dayton, OH 45459. Mass will follow at 10:00 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Parish, 9579 Yankee Rd, Springboro, OH 45066.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ohio's Hospice in Shirley's memory.
