Shirley Ann Bowling, age 79 of Fairborn, went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2017 at The Hospice of Dayton. She was born at home on May 21, 1937 to the late Perry and Ruth Powell. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by siblings, Jack, Ed, Odell, Verland, Raymond, Dorothy, Norma and Madelyn.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Wilbur Bowling Sr.; children, Rebecca (Dan) Null, Wilburn (Rebecca) Bowling, Jr.; Cynthia Bradley and Linda Whitt; grandchildren, Lucas and Josh, Troy and Kristy, Evelyn, David, Craig and Heather; 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Shirley enjoyed bluegrass music, having listened to the Powell Brothers play when she was young. She was gifted with a family of many musical talents. Shirley faithfully attended the Church of Christ in New Carlisle Scarf Rd. Congregation. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend and most of all loving wife. Shirley will be dearly missed.
Family will receive friends from 12-1 PM on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. where a funeral service will begin at 1 PM with her son, Wilburn Jr. officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
