Shirley Maurine Blaylock, 84, of Moraine, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. She was born October 13, 1937, to the late George Mitchell Shaver and Iva (Gore) Shaver Fisher in Livingston, TN. She is also proceeded in death by her stepfather, Lloyd C. Fisher. Shirley resided in Moraine, Ohio most of her life serving as a full-time wife and mother.
Shirley was married to her devoted husband Johnnie Edward Blaylock for 66 years (just 10 days shy of their 67th anniversary). Shirley was a wonderful and loving mother who gave her all to her family. She is survived by her loving husband Johnnie; sons: Richard (Deborah) Blaylock, David (Vanessa) Blaylock; grandchildren: Justin Blaylock, Alexis (Dylan) Hanscel, Allison Blaylock, and Jared Blaylock; brother: Donald (Shelby) Shaver; along with numerous other family members and friends.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Carrollton, OH for many years and loved her church and church family. She loved caring for children, several of whom became extended members of the family especially Robby Houk. She found joy in all circumstances, her laughter was infectious, and she always put the needs of others before her own. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
Visitation will be held 9:00 -10:00 am on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Newcomer (South Chapel), 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am with Pastor Scott Wells officiating. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, OH.
Pallbearers include Justin Blaylock, Jared Blaylock, Dylan Hanscel, Roger Rockwell, Sonny Turner, Wayne Blaylock, Christopher Falkowski, and Robert Houk.
We want to thank all who have cared for Shirley during the last few years, including her brother-in-law, Ralph and caregiver, Tina Scheckel. They have been a blessing to her and the family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Children's Ministry program at First Baptist Church, West Carrollton, OH, 705 S. Elm Street, West Carrollton, OH 45449.
