Shirley Jean Armentrout, age 83 of New Carlisle, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born May 20, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Howard and Ethel Berry. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Gene Armentrout; and daughter, Katherine Eileen Phillips.
Shirley is survived by her children: Rebecca Jean (Dennis Roy) Richey, Milton Phillips, David (Barb) Armentrout and Laurie (David) Shade; grandchildren: Angela (Matt) Towner, Bradley (Jamey) Ryles, Zachary (Shyra) Phillips, Tori (Brett) Jenkins, Joshua (Ashley) Kerns, Megan (Ryan) Armentrout, Chad (Samantha) Kerns, Delainey Armentrout, Hunter Armentrout, Dakota Shade, Tyee Shade, and Logan Shade; great-grandchildren, Ayden McBride, Emma Ryles, Conner Ryles, Hayden Armentrout, Conner Jenkins, Everly Jenkins, Scarlett Kerns, Olive Kerns, Ella Kerns and Alayna Ashe; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Shirley graduated from Stiver's-Patterson High School. After graduation she married her sweetheart, Paul Gene Armentrout; they were pen-pals and this started their 67 year marriage. She went on to work at Children's Medical Center, where she worked with children who had Cystic Fibrosis. Shirley was a life-long Eastern Star member, Lodge # 143 of West Union, Ohio. Paul and Shirley were avid dancers who enjoyed Square Dancing and doing the "Jitter-Bug." She was a bird-watcher and fed every bird who came to her doorstep. Shirley was a loving, caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 12-1 pm on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where a memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at Mt.
