Shirley Ann Phipps

It’s hard to put the right words into place when you lose 2 parents within 8 months of each other. Shirley Ann Phipps (Anderson) passed on 2/21/2025. While at her favorite weekly appt getting her hair done she had a massive brain bleed and never regained consciousness. On Friday with her family by her side, we said our goodbyes and she peacefully passed on. Now with Dad in heaven, they are joined for eternity but will be painfully missed on earth. Born in their family home located in Tipp City Oh on 10/27/1934. She was a graduate from the Tipp City class of 1953. An amazing and adventurous woman from driving stock cars, the coolest lady on roller skates, and had artistic abilities beyond belief. She married Charles K Phipps on 4/30/1955. She is preceded in death by husband, Charles K Phipps (June 2024); son, Charles R Phipps (Chuckwheet); father, Calvin Anderson; mother, Sarah Anson ( Anderson, Comer); and stepfather, Lavon Anson; two brothers, Donald and Tommy Anderson. Besides her family the next greatest love was being a school bus driver for Northridge Schools where she retired from. The stories I hear from past students who rode her bus range from being kicked off, assigned seating, and the best one is her pulling off the road and not moving again until the bus was quiet. Safety of her riders was of the utmost importance to her. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy and many memories shared by those closest to her. Charles and Shirley had 4 Children, Chuck, Jodie, Lisa, and Chris; grandkids, TJ & Mike Porumb, Trenton Phipps (Tasha) & Brittin Barclay, Nick, Harley, and Marissa; 8 Great grandkids; and countless friends. It's hard to cover 90 years, but what a wonderful journey she had. I love and miss you so much Mom, but knowing you and Dad are together again eases the pain ever so slightly. 

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 2-4pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A memorial service will begin at 4pm at the funeral home.
