December 2, 1948 --- January 10, 2023
Beloved wife, Sheryl Jones, passed away in the home she shared with her husband, Richard Jones. Richard and Sheryl had married late in life in May of 2016, when just three years later Sheryl was diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer.
Sheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Jonas and Ella Blanton, her brother Ralph, and her sister, Terry (Joan) Shollenbarger. Her younger brother Timothy Blanton lives in Brookville, Indiana. Sheryl had a special bond with her nephews and nieces Jimmy, Emily, Adam, Angela, Joseph, and Tracy.
Sheryl was a devout follower of the Baha'i Faith, though she began her spiritual journey as a child in the Christian Pentecostal Church.
As a child she lived among the elderly in her parents nursing home where Sheryl developed a love for the infirmed, leading her to work her way up to a doctorate degree. Her expertise in nursing home care led her to become a corporate director of memory care and a leading advocate for the elderly as a national speaker, trainer, consultant, and policy maker testifying before a congressional committee to help in the formulation of new laws protecting the rights and living conditions of the seniors in nursing facilities.
Sheryl will never be forgotten in the hearts of those who loved her and those hundreds whose lives she touched personally or the thousands living a more fulfilling final years through her contributions.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dayton for their loving care in Sheryl's final weeks.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 11:00am to 12:30pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH 45459. A Funeral Ceremony will follow beginning at 12:30pm. Her final resting place will be Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, Ohio.
