Sherry Candy Tippett, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 15, 2023, in Centerville, Ohio, at the age of 72. Sherry was born on February 15, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, to Oda Mae Bowman and Oliver Delbert Bowman. She was a caring and devoted individual who dedicated her life to serving her community and her family.
Sherry's greatest joy in life was being a caregiver. She selflessly gave her time and energy to support her three daughters and the children and parents within her community. Sherry went above and beyond in her service, acting as a troop leader for the Girl Scouts, swim parent coordinator, cheerleading coach, and most importantly, as the primary caregiver for her quadriplegic daughter.
In addition to her caregiving roles, Sherry had a successful career. She worked at Citizens Federal Bank in Dayton, Ohio, and later served as a librarian at Brookville Library. From 1988 to 2012, she worked in customer service at Paper Systems Incorporated. Sherry's dedication and commitment were evident in all aspects of her life.
Sherry found solace and strength in her faith and was a member of Southbrook Christian Church. Her spirituality provided her with comfort and guidance throughout her life.
In her spare time, Sherry enjoyed participating in various hobbies. She was an active member of a bowling league, a sand-volleyball league, and was known as the "Poker Princess" of her card club, the Stacked Deckettes. Sherry had a deep appreciation for nature and took daily walks, fed her band of bluejays, and enjoyed watching her favorite show, Dr. Pol.
Sherry will be deeply missed by her surviving loved ones, including her husband Thomas Tippett, daughters Shelley Tippett, Katherine Lundbeck, Jacqueline Tippett, grandson Dashiell Lundbeck, and brother Micheal Bowman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oda Mae Bowman and Oliver Delbert Bowman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Shelley Tippett's Care Fund on GoFundMe, which supports Sherry's beloved quadriplegic daughter. Details should be forthcoming as this is in the process of being created.
A gathering of friends and family to honor Sherry's life will be held at Newcomer Centerville, Sunday October 22, 2023 from 1-3 PM, located at 820 Miamisburg Centerville Rd, Dayton, OH 45459.
