Sherril Kay Marlow

January 20, 1947 — May 7, 2023

It is with the humble acceptance of God's will that we sadly announce the passing of Sherril Kay (Nies) Marlow originally of Tipp City, OH. Known by family as Sherril Kay, she passed peacefully at the age of 76 on May 7, 2023 with her family by her side after a brief stay at Hospice of Dayton. She was currently living with her daughter who cared for her after suffering the first of many strokes in October 2021. She was the most amazing mother, nana, and best friend her family could have been blessed with.

Sherril was born the eldest of three children on January 20, 1947 in Dayton, OH to parents, Raymond Nies and Doris (Ratcliff) Nies. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Terril Ray Nies and Randall Van Nies; and special friends, Cheryl Mosier and Donna Napier. Sherril is also preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Richard Barrett Marlow.

She is survived by her beloved and devoted daughter, Heather Taylor Concannon (David,) and her much adored grand-daughter, Emma Taylor Cockrell; dearest friends, Sandra Bird, Rhonda Koverman, Wanda Moles, Jeanne Roberts, George and Cheryl Wacks; and other cherished family and friends.

Sherril graduated from Wilbur Wright High School, Class of 1965. She worked and attended Sinclair College until getting married in 1968. In 1970, on the day before her 23rd birthday, her daughter, Heather, was welcomed into the world. The Air Force led her new, little family across the United States for the next 5 years until returning to Dayton. Sherril then spent the next 24 years as a government contractor until retiring. She and her daughter then began a framing business in 2000 until obtaining the Stitching Cottage in Centerville in 2001. Sherril, her daughter, and then, infant grand-daughter, continued framing while also specializing in counted cross-stitch supplies and classes.

Sherril and her husband were active members of The Corvette Club of Troy. They enjoyed traveling with the group on their cross-country trips in their 1996 Sebring Silver Anniversary Edition Corvette until her husband's passing. She was an amazing cross-stitcher, avid reader, and a remarkable baker and cook. Sherril was also an accomplished equestrian with her beloved Arabian horse, Bomarkus, and possessed the greatest love, compassion, and support of all animals.

Sherril Kay will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held Monday May 15th from 5-7p with a Service of Christian Inurnment starting at 7p at Newcomer-Centerville Chapel; 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd, Dayton, OH 45459

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the Hospice of Dayton for their amazing care. In lieu of flowers, please consider an honorable donation in Sherril's memory to Hospice of Dayton or The Dayton Community Cat Project.
