Sherman Truman Brewer

March 25, 1952 — January 29, 2018

Sherman "Freight Train Sherm" Truman Brewer, age 65 of Medway, passed away surrounded by his family on January 29, 2018 and went home to "feel the water". Sherman was born on March 25, 1952 to the late Raymond and Naomi Brewer. He graduated from Fairborn High School in 1972. Sherm met the love of his life, Denise Givens, in 1976. The two married soon after and have been blessed with 41 years of marriage.

Sherm was a skilled woodworker and an incredibly talented musician. He was a member of the Laurel Mountain blue grass band. Sherm attended Simply Church in New Carlisle. He worked for many years as a contractor, UST installer, a cement finisher, and a heavy equipment operator. Sherm was a loving, caring, and compassionate, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Sherman was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Shade Brewer and Walter Raliegh; grandmother, Eliza Jane Brewer; and sister, Eliza Jane Brewer.

Sherman leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife of 41 years, Denise Brewer; children, Linda Powell and Michael (Ashlie) Brewer; grandchildren, Austin Brewer, Jenna Brewer, Bennett Brewer, Gauge Powell, Garrett Powell, and Emma Powell; brothers, Willie Ray Brewer, Adam (Tina) Brewer, Paul (Joyce) Brewer, Ted (Melodie) Brewer, and Roger Brewer; sisters-in-law, Joyce Spencer, Betty Price, Charlene Young, and Diane (Ray) Bracken; brothers-in-law, Bobby Mullins and Donald (Lorreta) Givens; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sherman's memory to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton.
