Shelly Porter Jr, son of Shelly Porter Sr. and Angie (Monroe) Porter, was born on October 19, 1953. He was 1 of 3 children.
Shelly is preceded in life by his sister Beatrice, father Shelly Sr. and son Shelly III. His memory will continue to be cherished by his wife Bonnie Porter, mother Angie Porter, son Sheldon Porter, sister Amanda Clayburn, grandchildren Stacey Breedlove, Briannah Harshbarger, Kyrah Porter, & Dari Porter, as well as 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shelly graduated from Hubbard High School in Hubbard, OH in 1972, where he was a standout student athlete in both football and track. He later attended Heidelberg College where he continued his football career. The lifelong Cleveland Browns fan began his entrepreneurial journey when he started his own janitorial business along with wife Bonnie in 1986. It grew into a multi-faceted company that included a successful video game store, repair shop and arcade, stemming almost 35 years. He also helped give back to his community as President of the Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce where he oversaw the annual Fourth of July festivities amongst many other duties. Shelly employed hundreds of men and women over the years that considered him not just a boss, but a father figure, and friend.
Most recently, he attended the Emmanuel Church of the Brethrens.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio. Service will follow starting at 2:00 pm.
Shelly services will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
