Shellie Mae Godwin Daley, age 85, died peacefully at her home November 30, 2019 at Bethany Village in Centerville, Ohio. Shellie was born September 16, 1934 in Bainbridge Georgia to Addie Mae Hutto Godwin and Willie G. Godwin, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her devoted husband Lionel Carl Daley of Dayton, Ohio and her beloved grandson Ryan Richard Reed.
Shellie moved from her Georgia home and family at the age of 21 to travel with her husband Lionel, who was serving in the United States Air Force. Shellie spent 27 years as an Air Force wife living most of her life in Ohio. She also lived on assignment with her husband and children in Germany and Japan. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. She will be remembered as a wonderful, sweet, loving, and treasured Wife, Mother and Grandmother inspiring to her family in so many ways.
Survived by her children, including daughter Marilyn Reed (spouse Rick), daughter Leslie Daley (spouse Geoffrey Gordon), and son Richard Daley (spouse Paulette), grandson James Reed, and granddaughters Ashton Daley and Vanessa Taylor (spouse Zeb). Also survived by her brothers Calvin Godwin (spouse Carolyn), Jimmy Godwin (spouse Dianne), and her sister Ida Lou Salter (spouse Nathan).
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday December 7, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 901 E Whipp Rd, Centerville, Ohio 45459, where family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
