Sheila Marie Pflaum, 72, passed on Monday, January 21, 2013.
She is now at peace after succumbing to pneumonia and a courageous, lengthy struggle with respiratory disease.
Sheila graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in music education. She taught music in the Dayton and Fairborn School Systems, but her passion was her private music students whom she lovingly called her "little ones". In addition to her music, she had a gift that drew people ever so close through her wit and humor. She will be sorely missed by everyone, especially her sister, Susie, who has lovingly cared for her for 28 years.
Sheila was preceded in death by her loving parents, James J. and Agnes Pflaum of Dayton.
She is survived by her sister, Suzanne "Susie" and her husband James Nordyke of Dayton; brothers, James "Jimmy" Pflaum of North Carolina and Paul J. Pflaum "PJ" and his wife Kathryn of Atlanta, GA.; one nephew, Michael Bates; and four nieces, Acasia Pflaum, Laura Taillon, Kirsten Hatcher, and Kristine Hatcher.
The family would like to thank those special people at Pinnacle Point and Kettering Medical Center for sharing laughter with Sheila, along with providing their loving care.
Private services are pending and will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
