Sharon Stapleton
January 20, 1945 — October 16, 2015
Sharon L. Stapleton, 70, of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 16, 2015. She retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base and was a co-founder of the Backpack for kids organization at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Clair, MO.
She proudly served her country and was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
Sharon was born on January 20, 1945, in St Louis County, Missouri to the late Frank and Florence Gilmore. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Mary, Bernice, Monroe, Wilbert and Ronnie.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 51 years, Michael; son, Stephen (April) Stapleton; daughter, Shaun Stapleton; 5 grandchildren, Cullen, Christopher, Shannon, Conner, and Isabella; sisters, Shirley Tuepker, Shelby Morgan, Kay (Carl) Hardman; and several nieces, nephews and special friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 5-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, OH, 45424. Funeral service will follow Friday, October 23, 2015 at 8:30am. Burial will be at Dayton National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the backpack for kids program, c/o Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1500 South Outer Road, St. Clair, MO 63077.
