Selma Christine Spencer, age 71 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Riverside Healthcare Center. She was born January 7, 1954 in Malad, Idaho, the daughter of the late Earl and Selma Yearsley.
Mom was the epitome of kindness and generosity. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special, and her love knew no bounds. Her unwavering support for her children and grandchildren was evident in every aspect of her life. She would go to great lengths to ensure everyone was happy, even if it meant sharing whatever food she had or cracking one of her corny Selma jokes just to see us smile.
Her passions were many, but she had a special fondness for country music, Christmas, and decorating her house with elephants. Her collection of stuffed animals - elephants, monkeys, bears, and other cute creatures - transformed her home into a warm, welcoming sanctuary. We will always cherish the loving smile she wore and the genuine laugh that could light up any room.
Selma is survived by her husband, Rick; children, Karen Spencer and David (Lisa) Spencer; grandchildren, Brook, Madison, Alyssa, Dawson, Jillian, Ariana, Uriah, Ethan, Aiden, Neveah, Owen, Elijah, Geneva; siblings, Gary, Nancy, Janice, Marilee, Dan, and Paul; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Grant and Betty.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459). A memorial service will begin at 4:00 pm.
