Scott A. Woodside

April 1, 1963 — November 1, 2021

Scott A. Woodside, age 58 of Beavercreek, passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born April 1, 1963 in Bordeaux, France to the late James Woodside and Marlene (Woodside) Lanagan.

Left to cherish Scott's memory are his wife of 28 years, Debra Woodside; sons: Matt, Tyler, and Tanner; granddaughter, Eleanor; step-mother, Sheila Bleiman; brother, Andrew "Duff" Woodside; mother and father-in-law: Judy and Bill Helterbridle; beloved dogs: Bella and Zoe; and several other relatives and friends.

Scott was a caring, passionate person with a wicked, hysterically funny, sarcastic sense of humor, and a tough-as-nails determination. He was known for his deep belly laugh, and for having a mind of his own. Scott was an avid Michigan Wolverines and Cincinnati Bengals football fan, and had spent some time in earlier years coaching Pee Wee football. He was a member of a men's bible study group, the "Band of Brothers", which took part in numerous missionary trips to communities in need. Most notably, Scott was especially touched by the trips which his group took to Gulfport, MS to assist in the relief efforts following hurricane Katrina. He enjoyed hunting, movies, and had an ongoing project restoring a 1973 VW Squareback. Most of all, Scott enjoyed spending time with his family.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 8, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH.

Donations in Scott's memory may be made to SICSA, or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
