Scott Rowan McGuinness, aged 44, passed away unexpectedly of COVID on Monday, October 11, 2021 in Beavercreek, Ohio. He was born December 13, 1976.
He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Susan McGuinness; his brother, Troy McGuinness and Troy's wife Jennifer; nephews, Trevor McGuinness and Ean McGuinness; niece, Kathryn McGuinness; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Scott graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1995 and attended Sinclair Community College. He joined the U.S. Army in 2003 and was medically retired in 2013. Serving as a Combat Medic Scott was stationed in Germany for 5 years, at Ft. Hood with the 1st Cavalry, and at Fort Sam Houston. Scott deployed with the 1st Cavalry Division to Iraq, deployed to Afghanistan for a year, deployed to Soviet Georgia to train Georgian medics, Deployed to Angola, and Deployed to Pakistan with the last Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) Unit to provide humanitarian earthquake assistance
Scott was highly supportive of his niece and nephews and could frequently be seen cheering them on at soccer, football, or hockey matches. Scott enjoyed quality time with friends and family, reading on current events, and football.
Scott's ashes will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia sometime after a military honors ceremony at the Dayton National Cemetery on August 17, 2022 at 11:00 am.
