Scott Alan Haemmerle

May 17, 1953 — April 15, 2021

Scott Alan Haemmerle passed away peacefully on April 15, 2021. Leaving behind a broken body, Scott went to be with the Lord, walking into Heaven's presence healed and rejoicing with those friends and family who went before him. His family and friends now mourn his absence, but with time, it is his family's prayer that others will come to understand the promise and hope of heaven for those who remain.

Born on May 17, 1953 in Springfield, Ohio, Scott graduated from Beavercreek High School and attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. He took multiple trips with Taylor's Wandering Wheels, riding a 10 speed bicycle across Florida's coast from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic, sharing the good news of Jesus wherever doors opened.

He worked with Men in Motion Ministry in Mansfield, Ohio, driving a modified Greyhound bus equipped to travel with church youth groups overnight who would wake up in destinations like the Smokey Mountains or Walt Disney World. He went with them into the parks, cooked, laughed and prayed with them before driving them home.

Scott and his daughters, Corrie and Elissa, traveled with the Dayton Vineyard Church on two different mission trips to Hogar de Vida, an orphanage in Costa Rica, and their hearts were changed forever. They fell in love with the children they met and cried each time they said goodbye.

He worked in Dayton Vineyard's Back Door Ministry where he loved grilling food for those who came, whether in apartment complexes, church parking lots, parks or UD's college campus. If there was a grill and people who needed food, he loved cooking it.

When the Life Enrichment Center was first established, Scott continued to be a familiar face in the Dayton community, working to put food in the hands of those families who needed it.

Scott leaves behind his wife, Sheila, two daughters, Corrie Haemmerle and Elissa Haemmerle, and sister, Vickie Snyder. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard A. Haemmerle and Betty Jean Haemmerle and his brother, Daniel Richard Haemmerle.

Out of respect for Scott's wishes, a private burial will be held. The family hopes those who would like to honor him will find a quiet time to remember who he was in your life and be thankful for the time you had together. By sharing a favorite family photo, they hope it will bring a smile to your face and for you to know his request would have been for you to remember him in your smiles and laughter, rather than grieve his loss.

Scott knew this truth. "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." John 14:1-3
