Sarah Jean Van Sickle

Sarah Jean Van Sickle was born in Greensburg, Indiana on August 16, 1922. She was the daughter of Harry and Hester Borden. Sarah graduated from Rushville High School in 1940, has now passed away, at the Trinity Health and Care Center in Beavercreek, Ohio on September 17, 2015 at the age of 93. Sarah Jean was married to D. Clifford Van Sickle for 75 years and they were married August 18, 1940 in Rushville, Indiana. She is survived by her loving husband; two daughters, Mardena Sue (Jim) Pollock, Deborah Jean (Bill) Clark; grandchildren Diana, Darren, Sarah Jean, Will, Amy, Donny and Rob. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Jodelle (Don) Steeley; grandchildren Billy and Elizabeth; sisters Mildred (Robert) Stevens and Mary Helen (Wayne) Boone. Sarah Jean had been a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church since March 1950. She served as a Deacon several times and was a devoted Christian wife and mother. Sarah served God and the church in many other ways. She was a very loving and caring person. Sarah loved everyone and if they had a problem of any kind she would be the first one to offer her help and assistance. It made no difference about what their religion, color, race or creed might have been, she considered every person to be a child of God. Since she was such a God loving and caring person, she never failed to have her devotions every morning and evening. Sarah never failed to pray for those who were in need of help or had health or physical problems. Her husband and family know now she is with God and Jesus Christ, and will be watching over them, always. That is the kind of Christian person that she was and will always be. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11:00am at the Memorial Presbyterian Church 1541 South Smithville Rd Dayton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Miami Valley or Trinity Community.
