Sandra J. Layman, lovingly known as Sandy, age 74, of Dayton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on March 17, 2024.
She was born on June 5, 1949 to Charles McCracken and Jean Schwinn. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sandy was very outgoing and loved life. She attended Union United Methodist Church and was an honorary member of FM MVCTC FFA Boosters, earning an honorary Chapter FFA Degree.
She enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. Sandy's clothing often matched her colorful personality, and she loved to go shopping. She had a huge collection of shoes and jewelry. Her bright presence and smile will be very dearly missed by everyone that loved her.
In addition to her parents Sandy was preceded in death by her step-mother, Shirley McCracken, and her best friend's son, Mike Liles.
Left to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 53 years, John Layman; her children: Jon Layman, Jamie (Tina) Layman, Jeanette (Jimmy) Weimer; siblings: Steve (Ladora) McCracken, Debbie (Tim) Tonkovich, and Connie McCracken; grandchildren: Corey (Shelby) Layman, Zachary Layman, Connor Layman, Carly Layman, Dustin Johnson, Alyssa Hart, Brooklynn (Troy) Fletcher, and Colten Weimer; great-grandchildren: Greyden Lee Fletcher, Clara Johnson and one on the way; nieces & nephews: Tina Tonkovich (Ken Norris), Tracy (Amber) Tonkovich, Trent Tonkovich, Angela Rotterman (Gordon Motley "Nate"), and Amy (Ryan) Murphy; and numerous great-nieces & great-nephews; her best friend of 40 years, Sue (Larry) Marshall; and dearest friends: Sherrie (Rick) Jennings, Donna (Roger) Burton, Beverly Neff, and Pam Hendrickson.
A visitation will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 10:30am. Following the service, Sandy will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
