Sandra L. "Sandy" Lance
Age 70 of Dayton, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011, at the Dayton Veterans Hospital – Hospice Unit.
She will be remembered as a wonderful mother & grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Henry R. Lance; and by her parents, Berlyn & Evelyn Miller.
Sandy is survived by two daughters, Shari (Bobby) Lenox and Deborah Lance; two granddaughters, Jessica Foister & Kristin Lenox; sister-in-law, Deborah (Jack) Cerny; cousin & life-long friend, Charlotte Solt; and by her extended family in PA & IL and many good friends. Sandy was a 1st Lt (Nurse) in the U. S. Air Force and later worked in the SICU Unit at Kettering Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, shopping, spending time with family & friends and attending her granddaughters' sporting events.
The family would like to thank the staff & physicians at Kettering Medical Center (CCU & 3 West) and the Dayton V.A. Hospice Unit for their compassionate care. The family will be receiving friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (9/7) at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow at the Dayton National Cemetery.
At Sandy's request, a celebration of her life will be held at the Polen Farms, 5099 Bigger Road, Kettering, Ohio 45440 on Wednesday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. All family & friends are invited to join in celebration with food, drinks, remembrances & story telling.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Sandy to SICSA of Dayton (Society for the Improvement and Conditions of Stray Animals) or the Dayton VA Hospice Unit.
