Samuel Burton, age 86 of Vandalia, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 30, 2014.
Samuel was born on February 2, 1928 in Adair County, Kentucky to the late David & Janie (Harmon) Burton. He is preceded in death by his parents, and by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Betty Fay (Owens) Burton.
Samuel honorably served in the US Army in the 67th Engineers while in Japan. He later worked as a skilled maintenance welder for General Motors, and retired after 32 years of dedicated employment. He was a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge (Englewood, OH). He was also a very active member of the Am Vets Post #99 (Vandalia, OH). He enjoyed daily visits with all of his friends at Jim's donut shop in Vandalia, OH.
He is survived by his daughters: Penni Sears and Roxanne (& husband Michael) Vanover; grandchildren: Holland Sears, Trint Vanover and his girlfriend, Holly Wagonbach, Tyler (& wife Teresa Heis) Vanover; great-grandchildren: Josie Grace Vanover and Cooper Michael Vanover.
Visitation will be held 11 AM- 1 PM, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, OH. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, with a Masonic Service to start, also at the funeral home.
Burial at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City, OH.
