Samuel Clay Black

Samuel C. Black, passed away on April 24, 2023, at the age of 80. Sam was born on August 16, 1942, in Xenia, Ohio, to his parents, Ralph and Anna Black.

Sam proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from March 5, 1964, until April 18, 1968, as a Communications Specialist. He was a disabled veteran and served overseas in Turkey and England. After his honorable discharge, he became a longtime member of the Kettering American Legion Post 598. Sam was also a part-time teacher and a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion Church in Xenia, Ohio.

Sam was a skilled farmer and beekeeper and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He had a passion for bee keeping and loved to share his knowledge with others. He will be remembered as a patient and dedicated teacher to those who wanted to learn about farming and beekeeping.

In his later years, Sam battled heart disease and diabetes, but always maintaining his positive outlook on life.

Sam is survived by his sister Janice Dunlap, nephew Kevin Dunlap, grandniece Kaia Dunlap, grandnephew Pierce Dunlap, and close cousins Tom, Danielle, Kate and Stewart Kroh.

A private family service will be held to honor Sam's memory. Donations can be made to Day City Hospice. (www.daycityhospice.com)
