In Memory of Samantha Hope Edwards
May 10, 2011 to February 9, 2012
Samantha Hope Edwards went to be with Jesus while in her parents' arms at Cincinnati Children's Hospital on 9 February 2012 after complications from premature birth. She was preceded in death by her sissy, Dakota L. Edwards, who also met Jesus on November 14, 1998.
Samantha is the daughter of Raymond and Patty Edwards and sister to Zachary (Age 17) and Brandon Edwards (Age 11) of Dayton, Ohio. She answered their prayers on May 10, 2011 as they patiently awaited her arrival. Samantha had plans of her own and arrived 14 weeks early, weighing only 1 pound 9 ounces at birth. She was a determined little girl, just like her momma, yet sensitive enough to show how much she loved a good foot rub and hand massage. During her brief stay with us, she proved her will to live by surpassing the first 4 hrs, 24 hrs, 72 hrs all the way up to one day shy of 9 months old. Some of the milestones we celebrated as a family were hearing her cry through her isolette and the first time we got to hold her in our arms. We cherished her first bottle feeding and warm bath with a full body massage. She fought so hard to get well enough to go home enduring countless surgeries and procedures while spending her first 9 months in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Miami Valley Hospital and Dayton Children's. Her last two weeks were spent at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. As she grew, she enjoyed her baths, listening to music, and most of all smiling and being held close in the arms of her mom and dad. It is by God's grace that the Edwards Family was able to stay strong and adjust to this little miracle. She was loved and adored by all who met her. Please celebrate this little life with us that was nothing short of a miracle. Samantha will be dearly missed and remembered.
Ray and Patty Edwards wish to sincerely thank the devoted doctors, loving and caring nurses and respiratory technicians that worked to give Sammie a chance to thrive. It is because of you, your prayers, and God-given talents and gifts that we were able to enjoy Sammie for as long as we did. Thank you to our family, friends, and cow0rkers for your endless support and compassion through words and actions, in addition to your prayers throughout Sammie's life.
The Edwards family will receive friends on Wednesday February 15th, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory in Beavercreek.
A private service will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, OH.
