Sam B. Watkins, age 92 of Moraine, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Kettering Hospital. He was born March 4, 1927 in Athens, Tennessee the son of the late James and Genoa Watkins.
He retired in 1991 from Supreme Optical Company after 20 years of dedicated service. Sam a proud Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Moraine Senior Citizen Club where he would have lunch every day. Sam enjoyed music and went dancing every Monday night at the Payne Recreational Center.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Oma Watkins; siblings, Charlie, Robert, Lee, Walter, Litton, Torvert, John Watkins, Josie Watkins, Bessie Mae Ingram, Dixie Henderson and three infant siblings.
Sam is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Marvin (Brenda) Watkins; daughter and son-in-law: Bertha (Lonnie) Napier; grandchildren, Cheryl (John Sherriff) Napier, Cathy (Todd) Panstingel, Dale (Kim) Napier, James Watkins, Kaylena (Andy) Lindon; great grandchildren: Justin, Chelsea, Rachel, Brooke, Sara, Blake, Drew, Sydney; great-great-grandchildren, Jared, Jada, Jenny, Kara and Kendra; sister, Sarah Ruth Watkins; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends from Friday, December 27, 2019 from 10:00 am – 12:00pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd, where his funeral service will be held with military honors at 12:00pm. Great-Grandson, Pastor Justin Owens will officiate the services. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in West Carrollton.
