S. Dale Smart

Sidney (Dale) Smart passed away at the age of 81 on February 17th, 2023. He was born on April 30th, 1941 in Dayton, OH, to Raymond Charles Smart and Virginia Mae Dryden. After graduating High School, Dale joined the Army with his older brother, Jack Smart. After six years in service, he returned home where he and his wife attended Bible College, followed by many years as a pastor in Open Bible churches.

Dale Smart was a generous, gentle, and genuine man with a heart for God and loving everyone around him. His optimistic attitude and empathetic disposition shined through in everything he participated in and continues to show through his surviving family, including his wife of 62 years Jackie Smart; their two children: Dale Smart and Bridgette Evans; 9 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.

Friends, family, and others whose lives were touched by Dale are invited to Newcomer Funeral Home at 4104 Needmore Road in Dayton, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, February 26th for his viewing. The funeral service will be on Monday, February 27th starting at 1:00pm. Celebrate the wonderfully fulfilling life Dale lived with us. A man loved by all, undoubtedly going to be missed, but never going to be forgotten."
