Ruth Ann Winker
October 8, 1925 — January 17, 2022
Ruth Ann (Minnick) Winker, 96 years old, returned to her heavenly home on January 17th, 2022. She passed away peacefully. Ruth Ann was born on October 8, 1925, to Jesse and Ruth (Vanskoy) Minnick, in Madison County, Ohio.
Ruth Ann began working for Wright Patterson Air Force Base at the age of seventeen, retiring after 30 years of being an executive secretary for a general and several colonels. She was given the highest of recommendations for each position she held and received many awards for her outstanding performance. Ruth Ann married Robert Winker in 1968. After retiring she went to work for a jeweler, proudly designing some of her own pieces. At one point she also ran her own wig company called the Winker Wigwam Company. She and her late husband Robert Winker also bought and sold real estate for many years.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her husband Robert Winker (1994) and recently by her daughter Judith Anne (Parker) Rice (December 29th, 2021). In addition, she was preceded in death by her brothers William, Wilbur, and Kenneth Minnick as well as her sisters Winona (Pope) Minnick and Louise (Beaver) Minnick.
Ruth Ann leaves behind her son-in-law Dr. James M. Rice, one granddaughter, Amy Lazenby, and one grandson, Mark Rice, as well as two great grandsons, Avery, and Jonah Lazenby-Evans. She also leaves behind her two beloved dogs, Paris and Patches.
The family is grateful for the loving care Ruth Ann received over the last several years from Jana Irwin. Also, many thanks go to the Wright Patterson Rehabilitation Center in Fairborn, Ohio and to their hospice team.
A private graveside will be held at Fairfield Cemetery in Fairborn, OH.
