Ruth V. Hines

Ruth V. Rutherford Hines, passed away at Hospice of Dayton on May 3, 2021. She was born on October 5, 1927, in Somerset, Kentucky, to the late Rosa Calhoun Rutherford and Robert Rutherford.

She is survived by her only child, Sandra K. Beckett, of Huber Heights, Ohio; and her grandchildren, Steven Smith of Huber Heights, Ohio, Alicia Olson of Texas, Cyndi Beckett of Huber Heights, Ohio and David Beckett of Huber Heights,Ohio. Her four grandchildren were all she talked about when anyone was around. Also special to her were her great grandchildren, Alexis Smith of Huber Heights, Ohio, Megan Smith of Huber Heights, Ohio, Makayla Beckett of New Carlisle, Ohio and Adrian Beckett of Huber Heights, Ohio. She is also survived by her three sisters and four brothers, Barbara Bland, Opal Lee Rainey, Relada Merrick, Dan Rutherford, Gale Rutherford, Glenn Rutherford and Tony Rutherford; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters, James Rutherford, William Rutherford, Paul Rutherford, Steve Rutherford, Ilene Mapes, June Marks, Mattie Akin, Wanda Raines, Carolyn Hines Price and Betty Jo Strock.

Ruth retired from General Motors in Dayton, Ohio. Her favorite thing was having her family together for events. Ruth always had great advice, even if you didn't realize it until you were older. Phone conversations with her every day will surely missed by her daughter.


Services will be held privately for the immediate family.
