Ruth A. Alsip, age 82, of Dayton, left this world to be with the Lord on February 17, 2022. She was born on April 8, 1939 to the late Luther Alsip and Irene Fairchild. She was born in Kentucky but lived in Dayton, Ohio. She worked at Dayton Burlap and was also a waitress at the Hasty Tasty.
She loved people, but her joy was being a mother, grandmother, and aunt. She also enjoyed gardening and sitting on the porch, eating a popsicle.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Price; her mother, Irene Fairchild; her sister, Judy Browning; her brother, Manuel Alsip; her grandchildren: Stephanie Price, Ryan Lodwick, and Aaron Lodwick; and her baby sister, Vada Alsip.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving sons, Dennis Shepherd and Brian Shepherd; sister: Edith Holland; step-children; Tami Lodwick Hamlin and Chris Lodwick; grandchildren: Kerry Smith, Dawn Houk Mummey; Sarah Shepherd, Matthew Shepherd, Jason Harris, and Jeremy Harris; her great-grandchildren: Phin Anthony and Ally Smith; and several nieces and nephews, including her care giver, Mary Marshall.
The family would like to send a special Thank You to the Laurels of Huber Heights and to Hospice of Dayton for the great care they gave her.
A visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 5:00pm.
