Vernon, Ruth A., of Kettering, passed away peacefully at the Suites of Walnut Creek on March 20, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents: Anthony & Frances Szulczewski and many other relatives including Robert Kordus and Chester Banasiak. She is survived by her husband of 63 years: Erwin C. Vernon; daughter and son-in-law: Marcy (Steve) Wells; three granddaughters, her pride and joy: Abby (Josh) Gross, Allison (Chris) Askew, Anne (Jonathan) Wylie; brother and sister-in-law: James (Claire) Schultz; and many loving family and friends. She grew up in Milwaukee, WI, and graduated with a BS in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She worked as a Pediatric Nurse Instructor at Milwaukee County Children's Hospital. In 1961, she returned to the University of Dayton for her Elementary Education degree and taught at Valley Forge Elementary School in Huber Heights for many years. She was a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Church for the last 42 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 26, 2010 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass.
