Russell Allen Storer passed away peacefully at his home in Huber Heights, Ohio at the age of 96. Russell, known to many as "Russ", was born to Everett Storer and Letha Storer on September 3, 1927 in Peebles, Ohio.
Russ enjoyed fixing things, but his passion was troubleshooting and fixing electronics. His skill and patience to take something apart, fix it and put it back together was amazing. His tireless work ethic meant he would always put a lot of hard work into any task and refused to give up or take a rest until it was done.
Russell started as a Radio Repairman at Wright-Patterson Field in 1945. He served his country proudly by enlisting in the United States Army in 1952, and he served in the Korean War. He continued his service in the Ohio Air Force Reserve starting in 1954. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base as an Avionics Specialist in 1981. Russ was a loyal 50-year member of the American Legion, and he was also a longtime member of the VFW (Midway).
Russell also owned Storer Radio, TV and Sound Service. They provided sound services for Wayne High School games including football, baseball, soccer, track & field and even PeeWee Football games. His company also serviced several Ohio County Fairs and Festivals, Horse Shows, Car Shows, Community Event and Fund Raisers. Russ and Nora would also drive around to announce the anticipated arrival of Santa Claus at Throckmorton's for many years.
Russell is preceded in death by his father, Everett Storer and mother, Letha Storer; siblings: Morris, Mary, Wilma, Richard, Bill, and Kay.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nora Storer; children: Judy, Rick, Candie, and Bruce (Mary); grandsons: Jeremy and James (Juliana); great-grandsons: Nathan, Preston, and Tristan; and great-granddaughter: Addison; like a daughter, Debbie (Jack) Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a very heartfelt and grateful thanks to the lifelong friends and neighbors of Russ that shared so many unforgettable memories.
Our greatest appreciation goes to Rick for the loving care he gave for mom and dad. We would also like to thank everyone at Hospice of Dayton, with special thanks to Stacy, and a thank you to Kettering Home Health Care, especially Big John.
