Shaw, Rudy L., 73, of Huber Heights, passed away January 11, 2017.
He was born October 2, 1943 in South Bloomingville, OH to the late John and Frieda (Justice) Shaw. Rudy married Gancie (Spaulding) in 1965 in Athens, OH. He served 4 years and 3 months in the U.S. Navy as an EM3 on the USS Argonaut. Rudy went to Ohio University and earned his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Ohio Bell Telephone Co. and then went on to work at WPAFB Avionics Lab where he held 9 patents. He retired after more than 25 years and then started Shaw Consulting working as a contractor at WPAFB. Rudy was a member of the Association of Old Crows Hall of Fame and Eta Kappa Nu Engineering Honor Society. As a lifelong Engineer, he enjoyed many different hobbies, but mostly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildrens' sports.
Rudy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gancie Shaw; daughter, Ann (John) Puckett; son, John (Jill) Shaw; 3 grandchildren, Jackson, Jake and Callan; sister, Tonya (Dennis); 2 nephews, Jon (Tracy) and Aaron (Michelle); great niece, Caitlin; 2 great nephews, Caleb and Decklan.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home 4104 Needmore Rd. Funeral service will be held 10:30am Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel, 8200 National Rd., New Carlisle.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association in Rudy's memory.
