We are heart-broken to announce the passing of Roy Turner Junior, age 60, of Dayton, Ohio and formerly of Newport, KY.
He departed this earth for his home in glory on Friday, January 12, 2024. With his loving wife by his side, Roy passed away after a brief hospitalization for pneumonia.
Roy proudly served in the United States Army. He then went on to work for Behr-now known as Mahle, where he served as President of the IUE-CWA Local 775 Dayton, OH. Roy was a simple man who loved helping others anyway he could. Roy loved to watch sports-especially his Las Vegas Raiders. He also enjoyed wearing his lucky hat while going to the casino, and relaxing at home in his rocking chair with his pal Otis. Often times Roy could be found listening to music, watching tv, receiving daily calls from his family members checking in and praying with him, and telling stories. Roy loved being with his family and helped fill their hearts with memories that will last a lifetime.
Roy was preceded in death by his father, Roy Turner Sr., of Newport, KY.
Roy is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Teresa Turner of Dayton, OH; mother, Verneda Turner, of Newport, KY; brother, Ben Turner (David), of Cleveland, TX; daughters, Paige Clark, of Newport, KY and Jessica McKelvey (Bob), of Dayton, OH; son, Josh Hatton (Caitlin), of Rogers, KY; grandchildren, Kierra Clark, James Clark, Kayliah Clark, Kamdyn Clark, Jase Clark, Bobby McKelvey, Lucas McKelvey, Logan McKelvey, Willard Hatton and Ruby Hatton; great-grandchildren, Anthony James Jr., Kensley James, Kyra James, Karmen Wilson and Karliyah Clark; brothers-in-law, Jeff Watts (Denise) and Willard Watts (Shari); sister-in-law, Patty McIntosh; and a host of other special family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 12:30-1:30pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424. The service will follow at 1:30pm. Roy will be laid to rest at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia, OH.
