Roy K. Robinson

March 20, 1931 — June 2, 2022

Roy Keith Robinson, 91, went from his earthly home to his heavenly home on June 2nd, 2022. He was greeted by those that he loved dearly that preceded him in death, including his two grandchildren, Jimmy England and Anna Jenae Robinson, along with his parents and five brothers and sisters. His legacy survives with his loving wife, Greta Robinson; children, David (Wendy) Robinson, Teri (Todd) Studebaker; grandchildren, Cami Melvin, Thomas (fiancé, Larissa) Robinson, Elena Robinson; and great-grandson, Hunter Melvin; as well as his dear friend and neighbor, Ronnie Smith.

A long-time resident of Beavercreek OH, Roy was born in Ford, Kentucky on March 20, 1931 to Edward Franklin (Frank) and Anna Robinson and moved to the Dayton area when he was 10 years old. At age 20, he joined the US Army and served his country during the Korean War, where he was injured and earned the Purple Heart.

Roy was employed at both Gentile/Defense Electronic Supply Center (carpenter) and Wright-Patterson AFB Air Force Logistics Command (computer scheduler) for over 30 years and retired from there in 1986.

He was also an active member of East Dayton Church of Christ for nearly 70 years, where he met his wife, Greta, made life-long friends, served as a deacon, and taught Bible school classes to youth. He was always highly regarded and a leader amongst his church family.

One of his most treasured stories was always how he met his beautiful wife, Greta, whom he married on Friday the 13th of October 1961 after just a 2-month engagement. Their marriage of over 60 years is and has always been legendary and a true inspiration to all.

Roy had a true love for sports throughout his life and excelled at baseball and basketball. When he was younger, his love of baseball led him to try out for the minor leagues. He ended up playing for recreational teams and any church league East Dayton had to offer. Roy loved to share the stories and reflect on the many friendships he strengthened during those times. All throughout his life, he would often shoot hoops or throw a ball for hours with his children and grandchildren. He also loved playing golf with family and lifelong friends, Jim Van Dyke and Harold Gayheart. As a diehard Cleveland Browns fan since the 1940's, Roy could talk about all things Browns with nearly anyone.

His heart and passions were many, especially for his grandkids, Jimmy, Cami, Anna, Thomas, Elena, and great-grandson Hunter. The boys proudly carry his middle name, Keith, as does his son David, as a lasting legacy to Roy's inspiring life. Roy was privileged to provide daily caregiving to Jimmy and Cami from a young age and would often tell the most endearing stories of their childhoods. He also greatly anticipated the marriage of Thomas and Larissa and was very glad to have gotten to know her.

His unique and delightful sense of humor was one-of-a-kind and brought a smile, laugh or encouragement to all who encountered him. Above all, he had a true faith that came from years of scriptural studies. Roy's greatest love was God, and the family God blessed him with. He will be forever loved and missed by all.
