Our Father who art in heaven, You have chosen this May 14, 2013 to take our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother away. Rosie Lee Russell was born to the late Adie and Lula Belle Vines July 24, 1929, in Tuscaloosa, AL. She attended Laurel High School in Alexander City, AL.
She married the late Major Eugene Greer and relocated to Dayton, Ohio in 1947. Rosie Lee was self employed until she retired in 2000. She was passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. She was a devoted mother to all who knew and loved her.
She remarried to the late Marvin Russell of Dayton.
Rosie Lee is survived by seven children: Inas (Ayat) Salaam, of Fort Worth, TX; Eugenia Greer, of Germantown, MD; Jacqueline (Veit) Parker, of Springboro; Carolyn Greer, of Centerville; John (Toni) Greer, of Huber Heights; Roslyn (Lawrence Britton) Greer-Britton, of Liberty Township; and Joyce Greer, of Mansfield, TX. She is survived by seventeen grandchildren: Patrick, Crystal, Paul, Michael, Pamela, Candice, Alicia, Aesha, Julian, Aginah, Nadia, Maurice, Ivy, Veit II, John Jr., Catherine, and Brandon. She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Tuesday May 21, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). Public visitation will be held before the funeral at 10:00 AM. Rosie Lee will be buried at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
