Rosie L. Glass, age 83 of Xenia, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Soin Medical Center. She was born January 16, 1936 in Starkville, Mississippi to T.C. and Mary (Stallings) Dawkins. Rosie married Carl O. Glass in Xenia, OH in 1954 and was happily married for 28 years.
Rosie was a devoted wife to Carl and a loving mother to Douglas. She was a professional cook, working at Central State and Ohio Soldiers and Sailor's Orphan Home in her career. Rosie was very festive with a wonderful sense of humor. She had a passion for music and fast cars, enjoying long drives in the country. As the oldest sister, she was devoted to her siblings and always looked forward to family times and gatherings at her home. Cooking was her absolute joy.
Rosie is survived by her son, Douglas E. Glass; a brother, Eddie Nickles; three sisters, Dorothy Springs, Bessie Johnson and Libby Bailey; a nephew, Wilfred Jones; "a daughter" Hope Mitchell; and other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Robert "R.L." Stallings and David Dawkins; and a sister, Alice Gray.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
A Celebration Repast for Rosie will be held at First United Christian Church, 626 North Columbus Street, Xenia, OH 45385 on Saturday, June 15th from 1 to 3 pm.
