Rosemary Focke Keen
Died March 17, 2012 in the Health and Rehab Center of St. Leonard's, Centerville, Ohio where she lived from January 2010 when she suffered a stroke.
She was the mother of five children, three boys and two girls; George Michael Keen of Auburn, MA; James Richard Keen of West Carrollton, OH; Patricia Marie Keefe of Beavercreek, OH; Kathleen Ann Turner of Valrico, FL; and Christopher Lee Keen of Kettering OH.
She was married to George Kenneth Keen of Emerson Ave., Dayton, Ohio on June 8th, 1946 at Corpus Christi Church, Dayton, OH. The couple honey-mooned in Chicago, IL. They then lived in Dayton, OH for the majority of their lives, before moving in 1989 to Bradenton/Sarasota, Florida for 20 Years, of semi-retirement, where they greatly enjoyed the warm weather. She visited to the beach almost every evening for the first year.
Her daughter Patty remembers her as a mother that she could always count on, trying her best in role of a mother, copying the Virgin Mary. According to her son Jim, "she never criticized us for anything. She always had a kind word for everyone". Son George Mike remembers her "volunteering at the hospital, and being the den mother for cub scouts, she decorated the house for the holidays and was great at making cakes. Her daughter Kathy says she was "the best mom in the world and a really sweet person." Her youngest son Chris remembers "she was always thinking of others. She was a very considerate person, always sending birthday & thank you cards, always worried about being on time, and always trying to put other people first. Terry Boeing, one of her nieces, declares "to my kids she was known as the "Birthday card Aunt" because she NEVER missed a beat with her cards!"
As you can see from the picture, she was to me her husband, a very good wife, sometimes questioning what I proposed, like going to live in Florida, but in the end, compromising. She always figured "We had a 20 year vacation".
The family will gather for prayer and services at St. Helen's Church, this Saturday, March 24, at 5:00 for mass. Friends and additional relatives are invited.
