Rose Marie Warren, age 87, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away March 31, 2023. She was born in New Boston, Ohio on March 3, 1936 to the late Lawrence and Effie Maggard. However, her true hometown was Martin, Kentucky where she graduated high school in 1953.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor Warren; son, Rory Tackett; daughter, Cynthia Noirot (Tom); grandchildren, Kolyn Kindred, Kristin Noirot; sister, Greta Graham, infant brother brother, Robert Keith Maggard; her first husband and father of her four children, Ronald G. Tackett.
She is survived by daughters, Rhonda Tutt (Mike Grabau) and Carol (Randy) Vandagriff; twin sister, Ruby Spencer; sister, Ada (Daryl) Luxmore; grandchildren, Elijah Speer, Toni (Matt) Carmichael, David Speer, Lora Noirot (Ben Mangan), Travis Weisman, Patricia Vandagriff and Christine (Tyler) Jewell; eight great-grandchildren, three nieces and three nephews and dear friends, Karen Hollister and Lisa Stoddard.
Rose loved her job working at The McCall's Printing Factory in the 1960s as a switchboard operator. Calls came in from all over the United States as well as internationally. McCall's was the largest printing factory in the world, covering 38 acres, right here in Dayton, Ohio. Rose had always wanted to be a secretary so she took a few classes and ended up working for and retiring from Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a secretary.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kettering Ward as well as the Palm Harbor Ward in Florida. She and Victor retired and lived in Dunedin, Florida for twenty wonderful years. She loved serving in her church and served two temple missions in Orlando, Florida with her husband, Victor. For her missions, Rose took a language course and quickly learned to speak Spanish which enabled her to serve those who only spoke Spanish. Rose loved working on her family's genealogy, for which she spent many dedicated hours.
She was an avid sports fan who especially loved watching University of Kentucky Basketball games. She also loved the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and many other sports teams.
In addition, Rose was a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society of the Colonial Dames of America
and other historical societies.
Rose loved to talk and tell stories about her childhood, growing up in eastern Kentucky with her twin sister, Ruby and her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved her family deeply and adored the time spent with each of them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6th, from 12:00 pm -1:00 pm, where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Burial will follow at Royal Oaks Memorial Gardens in Brookville, OH.
