Rose Marie Hogans-Baker a native of Dayton, Ohio was born on December 20, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Marie Hogans and Willie Chuney. She is also preceded in death by her son, Sylvester Hogans; (2) sisters Bernice Arnold and Betty Gaines; (4) brothers Edward, Woodson, Raymond, and Maynard Hogans. She was educated in the Detroit Public School System where she later worked until her move to Dayton. As a foster mother more than 20 years for various agencies she touched the lives of a host of young boys before retiring.
Rose accepted the Lord as her personal savior as a girl at Carter Metropolitan CME Church in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Progressive Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio where she was baptized and served as Missionary Leader for several years. She lived a productive and motivating 73 years and will be sorely missed.
Her passion and calling in life was to care for children. Rose loved family near and far always keeping in touch and showing everyone much care and concern. She loved and was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, foster children, siblings and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, knitting and dancing.
Rose departed from this life and transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 15, 2015 and leaves to cherish her precious memory; (2) loving and devoted daughters, Samantha Cotton (Ernest) and Tabatha Davis (Nathaniel) and (4) sons, Michael Hogans (Tresia), R. L. Hogans, Matthew Hogans and William Baker (Sherita);(24) grand-children, Sharon, Kyana, Mike L. Mike D. William, India, AC, Daniel, William C. Brandon, Dashanece, Sherrice, Venieka, Sylvester, Nathan, Bryan, Myria, Sada, Tiesha, Eric, Tony, Precious, Rose Jr., R.L. Jr, Jerrell, (4) special devoted young men who where there to the end, Phillip Benson, Chris Hicks, Dale Reader and Demere Jones; and (35) great-grandchildren; (2) sisters, Veronica Rivers-Claybrone and Yvonne Covington of a host of nieces, nephews and cousins of Detroit, Michigan and Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Summerville, S,C,; Beloved childhood friends Mammie Lloyd and Sharon Roper of Detroit, Michigan; (2) God-daughter Tyra and Tiajuana; a host of other relatives and friends.
