Rose Etta Gent
Age 94, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011, at The Hospice of Dayton.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Daniel E. Gent; her parents, William & Louise (Marsee) Flowers; two brothers, John & James Flowers; and by four sisters, Verdie Flowers, Hassie McKinney, Mary Gent, & Viola Collins.
Rose is survived by three daughters, Dana Shingleton, Deborah (Doug) Perdue, & Sue (David) Smith; six grandchildren, Shannon (Chris) Minge, Dougie (Jenny) Perdue, Paul (Teresa) Baker, Shellie (David) Chadwell, Danielle Baker, & Danny Perdue; fifteen great grandchildren: Alec & Mason Minge; Madyson, Riley, & Hannah Perdue; Tyler & Cody Dale, Daniel & Katelynn Chadwell; Austin & Emma Green, McKenzie, Sam, & Laycie Baker; Chandler Perdue; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Rose was a past member of Old Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Middlesboro, Kentucky and a long-time member of the First General Baptist Church on Woodley Road in Dayton. For many years, she served as the pianist and taught Sunday school (12 year olds).
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, 2405 Harshman Road, Dayton. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro, Kentucky.
