Rose E. Barnard, age 93, of Dayton passed away peacefully February 13, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton.
She was born June 22, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Albert and Rose (Kriegel) Drummer.
Rose worked at Esther Price Candy on Wayne Avenue in Dayton for many years. She was a gifted saleslady!
Rose was a devoted member for over 70 years of the Immaculate Conception Parish, serving with the Rosary Altar Society and also the Women's Auxiliary VFW Post 2800 in Dayton. She enjoyed swimming at Lohrey Center, crocheting and baking banana bread which she liberally distributed to others. Rose was a bowler and avid pinochle player. She enjoyed playing the lottery. Most of all, she treasured her family and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Jack R. Barnard in 2010; brothers Don and Roy Drummer and sister Marguerite (Peg) Brinkley.
Rose is survived by her children Karen (Robert) Steiger, Pamela (John) Slouffman, Diane Westhafer, Rosann Patterson, John (Terri) Barnard and Marilou (David) Beckley; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Ruth Fischer as well as many other relatives and friends.
Rose's family will receive visitors on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 5-7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dayton. Interment will follow at Dayton National Cemetery where Rose will be laid to rest with her beloved Jack.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose's memory to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton.
