Mr. Roscoe Milton Woods
age 93, departed this life on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Elm Creek Nursing Home.
Roscoe was born on August 24, 1918 in Atlanta, GA. He was educated through the Atlanta Public School System. He proudly served in the United States Army during WW II and was honorably discharged. He was employed by First Data Resource Company in Atlanta, GA where he retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Gussie Woods; brothers Julius Woods, William Woods, Damen Woods, Daniel Woods and sister Gladys Woods.
Roscoe leaves to cherish his memory: Daughters, Martha (William) Hogan, Mary (Lawrence) Chastang, Elizabeth Jordan, Rebecca Banks, Joann (George) Jones; grandchildren, Gregory Chastang, Starlyn Simmons, Jeffry Chastang, Darrin (Hilary) Hogan, Natasha (Roderick) Alexander, Stanton (Barbara) Jones, Janae (Corey) Chapman; twelve great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., Monday, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Bishop Ronald Andrew Southall officiating. Interment will be at Dayton National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
Contributions may be made in memory of Roscoe to the Alzheimer's Association.
